Darker pinup girls (possibly nsfw)

Possibly NSFW.

Posting an image. It makes it easier to link to other places and get feedback on it.
Its just a wip for now, and I've censored some bits. This is one of the few image son my flash drive that are saved in a  favorable file format, so that I might actually continue to work on it.

More Pictures of DIY spindles and yarn tools

Hi everyone!
I have more pics to share. Found them on my hard drive.
These spindles are all handmade by me. The heart-shaped blue object was supposed to be a tatting shuttle. It was an experiment that didn't pan out. It can double as a pendant or a thread holder I guess.

Enjoy!

From left to right: 1. chopstick and polymer clay spindle, decent spinner. 2. Dowel and polymer clay triangular spindle, great sport weight single spinner. 3. Polymer clay handled size E crochet hook.

4. I drilled a hole in half  of a wooden yoyo I found, stuck a dowel and a hook in it. It is a decent spinner of fingering and sport weight singles. 5. A terra cotta polymer clay spindle, improvised. It eventually broke. ]= I need to remake it. 6. A printer gear and a chopstick bottom whorl spindle. All three have superwash merino singles on them.

(See above descriptions)

Close up images of this failed tatting shuttle and the ring I tatted on it. Eraser next to it to show the size.

My new Turkish spindle... ]= leaves something to be desired.

It left a little to be desired.
I got it from knitpicks at ~15USD.

I was having trouble spinning with it. Its not as smooth spinning as the other, more expensive turkish spindles I've tried.
I had to replace the shaft because it wasn't gripping the spindle arms properly. The larger arm kept getting stuck on the yarn.I mean, its OK with some sanding. I sanded the bumps on the underside of the spindle.
For future reference, if anyone else wants to get a turkish spindle (they are fun to use and safe a lot of work, look them up on google), get one where the arms are smooth, and the spindle shaft fits tightly into the slots.
The shaft in the picture is my tighter fitting chopstick.

Here are some after pictures of the spindle, after I spent some time sanding it with 60 grit sandpaper.

At the moment, its only fast enough to spin some dk weight singles. I have been practicing trying to spin bulkier yarn than sport-weight or dk, so its good for beginners at least, after its been sanded. Here are some images of the spindle after it had been sanded, with my handwashed and hand carded romney fleece.

The cat... his name is Tiger. He didn't want to move so... I guess he's in the picture. The other two bottom whorl spindles are of polymer clay w/ chopstick shaft, and the other is a toy wooden wheel with a dowel shaft. Both handmade by me.

6 inch and 12 inch HDC mitered granny square

This is design one in a series of standard filler afghan squares for charity or personal projects.
gauge of 4 hdc = 1"
I used acrylic worsted weight yarn, 4 ply/ 10 ply, mainly scraps.

G or H hook, depending on how tightly/loosely you crochet.

  1. Use the magic loop technique or using a G or H hook chain 4, join in a loop and chain 3 stitches.
  2. Make 2 hdc in loop, ch 2, (3 hdc, ch 2)x3, slip stitch in the top of beginning ch 3.
  3. Ch 3, hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in space, ch 2, 2 hdc, hdc in next 2 stitches, hdc on the ch 3 from last round, ch 3, turn.
  4. Hdc in next 5 sts, 2 hdc in next space, ch 2, 2 hdc, hdc in next 5 sts, hdc on the ch 3 from the last round.
  5. Continue in this manner for 25 rounds, or until square measures 12". If it doesn't quite measure 12 inches, add one more row: sc across in each stitch till the ch 2, in the ch 2, 2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc, sc in each remaining stitch till the end of the row.
  6. Fasten off.

6 and 12 inch DC mitered granny square

Here is a pattern for a simple 12" mitered filler granny square. I've been using it to make 12 inch squares for various charities. This design has minimum holes for maximum warmth.

I haven't seen any other patterns for a square of this size so... I feel that I should post this for other folk. I will start with the 6" square.

US terms.
G or H hook (4.25mm - 5.0mm)
Worsted weight yarn

  1. Ch 4, sl st in 1st chain to form a ring.
  2. Ch 3 (counts as first dc from now on), 2dc in loop, ch 1, (3dc, ch 1) three times,  sl stitch in top of ch 3, pull the tail tight.
  3. Ch 3, 2 dc in corner, dc in next 2 dc, 3 dc in corner, ch 1, 3dc in corner, 2 dc in next 2 dcs, 1 dc in corner space, dc in the corner chain, ch 3, turn.
  4. Skip first space, dc in next 5 stitches, 3dc in next space, ch 1, 3dc,  dc in next 5 stitches, ch 3, turn.
  5. Skip first space, dc in next 8 stitches, 3dc in next space, ch 1, 3dc, dc in next 7 stitches, dc on top of previous turning chain, ch 3, turn.

Continue this until there are a total of 5 rows. This should be a 6 inch square.

To get a 12 inch square, continue in this manner for 11 rows.

Remember that my art blog will have some nudity. These in particular are half clothed individuals. xD

Also, a few weeks ago I got a new wacom Intuos 3 6 x 8 tablet off of ebay. Rather, used, but it was new to me.
Commemorative artwork here:

In order to make it through this winter season, I am going to offer digital commissions of some sort. Please stay tuned for this, I will definitely post about them.
Thaaanks.

Charity Knitting/Crochet: blanket squares, hats, etc

Bah. My family members don't really want handmade things for christmas, or at least EVERY year they say so.

I decided that I have a ton of acrylic and wool yarn, and nothing to do with them, and a bit of spare time, so I'm going to make blanket squares, hats, mittens, sweaters, and other miscellany for various charities.

I mean, this is what I'm doing when I"m not drawing or job searching or doing things with family. Or cleaning.

Here are some of the things I've made since earlier this month.
I was supposed to be doing inktober but that didn't go over so well. Too many interruptions. Anyway I'll post a link to my tumblr page when I have all my inktober pictures together. In any case, here are what I have so far.

Ah, I have a mitten pair or two that wasn't included, then a WIP vest, and a ton of squares.

Charities these items are going to:
http://www.afghansforafghans.org
http://friendsofpineridgereservation.org/
http://www.knit-a-square.com/

If you knit, crochet, sew, or just have extra money to give to charity, check out these charities too.
I have a slight shortage of wool but I"m looking for places I can donate acrylic items and school supplies.
I am looking to write up patterns for simple squares soon.

Sigh. Shipping is going to be intense, as I'm on a budget and only temp jobs at the moment.
Whatevs.

Happy New Year - Time to look for a job

Happy New Year all.

I've graduated from college. Now I have to look for work as either a video game artist, or a movies/media artist. I particularly want to be a character artist or a concept artist. It is a slow going search. I probably will have to take a regular job in the meantime. ]=

Anyway, I'm working on sprucing up my portfolio. I have a bunch of work to redo and spice up for my portfolio.
I also have a bit of work to do on my flash drive, in regards to separating older artwork, older, useable artwork, works in progress, and recent artwork.

I am working on some concept art character sheets.
These are just some random strange priestess characters that I had eventually wanted to use in a story. Eh... they need a rework. I think these are from 2008 or 2009
